I Dont Get This!!

Well, I thought my opti went out, and using everyones advice was gonna go check for spark and get a scanner and everything to try to test it. The car wouldnt start at all, just kept turning over, but no spark. Well, i tried to start it just now for the hell of it and it just started up fine. No stumbling, backfiring, etc. Just ran normal....any ideas? SHould i still scan it? Or anyone have any ideas. Fuel pressure is fine...this is pissing me off. its like my car is toying with me!

scanning isn't going to tell you anything unless your ses light is on...

My car did the same thing. It wouldn't start for a long time and then out of no where it would fire right up. It turned out to be the coil. Seems it had gotten some moisture and wouldn`t fire, but after it dryed out it would fire straight up. Test the coil first would be my advice.

Check all your connections.
I just had my intake off, put everything back together and wouldn`t start. Started checking and found the connections from my Accel box loose.

could have still been the opti... you prolly got moisture inside it causing it NOT to start.. Then the car sat and the moisture cleared up and now the car is working again... I know your car is a 95 but it could still happen

Scanning will give you all the codes stored over the past 50 or so drive cycles. Doesn't matter whether the SES light is on or not. In fact, many codes don't even turn on the SES light... only way to find them is a scan. And that includes DTC 16, for loss of low res pulse from the Opti... something that will prevent your car from starting, and can be an intermittent problem.

Thanks guys! When the car wouldnt start i was getting a Check Engine Light, and a Check Gauge Light. So, something was throwing a code at some point, but it eventually cleared up and decided to start working. Im gonna get it scanned asap and see whats up. I dont know how moisture would of affected the opti or coil, because i was just driving on a normal night, and all of a sudden it just cut out. I must have been driving for 30 min. before that....But, maybe a scan can clear it up.

so do I. I dont know when, if ever, it has been changed, and ive put about 20K on it so far. Couldnt hurt to change it as it is, but I guess a scan will solve this problem.
