compression ?'s, kinda long

here's the story, short as possible, thanksgiving night I'm in the Z, w/p goes and the gauge gets pegged at 260 before I notice it. shut it down and let it cool alittle, rad. cap off I start it up, add some water, after a minute it shoots it out "slightly" of the radiator, it looked like just air pockets to me,I've seen cars with leaking head gaskets in the coolant and it shot it of the rad alot more than mine appeared to be doing. Next day, car runs perfect, no water in oil, no smoke. Now, I decided to do the cam swap over the winter, just now finishing it up, when I went to install the valve springs the other night I hooked up my junky a$$ compressor to the no. 1 cyl. to hold the valves while I change the springs with heads on car. I can only get bout 60lbs. of press. out of my compressor. When i hook it up i hear i leaking air in the oil pan area, tried the #1, #3, #2, and #4 cyl. and the same prob., and it leaks down pretty quick. When I parked this thing it ran perfect, other than a leaking pump, WTF!! What about the factory pistons it the LT1? I know they "swell" after they warm up, and the piston skirt slap will go away, do u think I just dont have enough pressure to seat the rings or what, I know it sounds crazy, but I know it was running fine the day I took it apart. WTF!!! This is the second time the car got that hot. Anyone experiece this before, I just cant believe this thing is not holding pressure cause it ran perfect before I tore it apart, HELP!!
