Comp 918 help PLEASE!

Have comp 918 springs
614-16 +.050 locks
795-16 retainers
4705-16 seats
I read where that should put me at 1.75 install height and I’m at 1.875. What am I doing wrong?

How many miles on the engine? Could be worn valve/valve seats. You might need to shim them. If the heads have had machine work, they might have worked the spring seats a little. Have a look a this.....

Hopefully others can chime in with more experience than I.

The micrometer I was using wouldn’t work with the beehives.

See my questions above......if the micrometer won't work, buy one that will. No time to cheap out on tools.

Re: Comp 918 help PLEASE!

918 spring height spec is 1.800" installed height. If your cam is stock or not a much higher lift than stock you "likely" are OK installing them tighter at 1.75" but that will increase its open & seat pressure and bring it closer to coil bind if you run a high lift cam

beyond that 918's have a horrible record of breaking. If you can, IMHO, return them and get the plug & play Lunati LT1 kit.

If you are intent on running the 918's than check them every 5-10k mi and consider replacing them after 20k mi

If you have a stock cam and install them at 1.800" they can be OK

this was after 18k mi
