Coil went out at high rpm car backfired and will not start

took the opti off broken pieces rattling inside replaced with old opti fired right up, so do I get another gm opti or speed the $ and get a msd? Thanks for all the help

get a new gm/delphi unit,, no msd, i have used these before and they are the same gm opti you get from the dealer, but right from delphi. Bumper to Bumper can also get the Delphi units if you request them.

If you use a GM unit you can say bye bye to it again as soon as you go wot a few times. It will explode again. The way I look at it you have 2 choices, GM unit and upgrade with the msd cap/rotor, or go with the MSD unit and make sure you put thread locker on the MSD rotor screws.

Have you converted the opti to the (95-97) cam pin drive or is it the spline drive.(93-94)
The reason why I ask is I found out the pin on my cam (CC306) was too long after I broke my opti. I clearanced the pin and installed the new opti and it hasn't given me any more trouble, (YET) You know how opti's are (I also have a spare opti with msd cap and rotor on the shelf). LF

took the opti apart screws were backed out of rotor no damage but I have it apart and will get a brandy new one, delphi or msd?
