Coil Vs OPTI

Car has a bad stumble after driving it on a long run and then sitting in stop and go traffic. Runs really good on shorter trips, even stop and go. The stumble is usually between 1700-2000 or 2200-2400 RPMS if it does happen. Like I said though, only after longer runs (50 miles on highway) then get off and drive in stop and go.

Would this be a symptom more related to the coil than the opti? Its definitely ignition. 155K miles on both the coil and the opti.

i would guess the coil as well, hell its like 50 bucks for a MSD one and decently easy to install. shoebox has a write-up on it to help you. replace that and see if it helps

Is that the kind of coil that seems to work well...the MSD coil? Anything that a local parts store might have ?

Just put a stock OEM AC Delco coil back in it. See if someone local on sffba has one you can try before you start throwing parts at it

Hell I'm still running my stock 90k mile coil.

Thanks Javy, Ill ask around SFFBA...

Dawgz,

I heard of a fix like that also, but I'm not sure if that is my problem, but it might be something for me to look into. I just got a bad feeling with 155K that it would be opti or coil related...

Thanks for the replies!
