Thumbs up Re: Codes being thrown..Help me!

I would run by your local ASE certified shop for a quick scan.

They'd be able to pin point the problem and tell you what the heck is going on. I had a problem similar a while back.

Re: Codes being thrown..Help me!

I just scanned them with Tunercat..CD 33 has to do with low vaccum(yes, it has a rough idle), CD 42 has to do with ignition control( just replaced everything to do with ignition), and CD 83 has to do with the TCC control solenoid..But why!!!!

Could it be your o2 sensors? How is your o2 reading?

Re: Codes being thrown..Help me!

"Big" cams will produce high MAP readings (= low vacuum) that exceed the threshhold at idle for the DTC 33 code. I think it would indicate you are seeing MAP readings over 68kPa. Could be the cam, could be the "tune", could be the valve adjustment.

DTC 42 is a short or ground on the ignition. Clear it and see if it comes back. Could be a stored code from a problem at initial startup. How's it running?

DTC 83 = TCC PWM Solenoid Circuit Fault (automatic transmission)

Re: Codes being thrown..Help me!

The first code doesn't suprise me, since the pcm isn't tuned for this cam yet, and yes, its a pretty good size cam . Will tuning fix this problem?
Since my last setup, I have changed ignition setups, went from a Delteq, back to an Opti/coil setup,so I could have something hooked up wrong, I'll have to double check things, and clear that code out..

Whats the last code mean, about the TCC solenoid? Does that mean its going bad? How hard is that to replace?

Thanx guys!

I would reset the PCM and see what comes back.

I unhooked the battery cable a few times, throughtout this process, and the SES light always seems to come back...Is there another way to reset it?

That's the hard way to reset it, but it will work. You can simply remove the PCM BAT fuse for 30 seconds or so.

You can't "reset" it if the problem is till there. You need to scan it again and see which of the codes came back.

Re: Codes being thrown..Help me!

Also check the ground strap from the ICM to the radiator support. I ended up replacing the opti, icm and pcm before I decided to check this and it was causing all kinds of issues with my car. Was getting the Code-42. If that does not fix it check your ICM connectors, might be an issue there. Last but not least, are you using a GM ICM or an AutoZone equivlant? The AutoZone ones have been bad for me straight out of the box.

Re: Codes being thrown..Help me!

Does removing the fuse clear the codes completely so the PCM will have to read those errors again before the SES light comes on???
