Question I have an extra LT1 shortblock, what can I do with it?

Okay, so last week I lost oil pressure and heard a knock and immediately replaced it. So I know its a little damaged.
What are my options? Can I build a 355, 383, etc with this block?
What kind of materials would need to go into this? Kits? Where?
Is there a site detailing the procedure?
I would like to build a strong motor with this block if possible.
Thanks guys! I love the LT1

Sorry for all the questions, I'm kind of new to this...Ive only recently started working on my own car and still have yet to learn how it all works.

Im in the planning stages... building a 383 out of mine... hopefully i will have some killer heads and a good cam to mach from lloyd... just depends on how much money you are willing to spend... my car was completly stock when the motor went out... so i know im going to spend well over 7 grand in stuff before it is all said and done. Take a day or so and read through some of the post people have had on 355/357/383/396 and whatever else they have made out of them... If you have a goal it would help alot... rather than just dreaming from number to number. Good luck!

hillbilly is right you will spend over 7 grand,if you look you can get a used lt1 383 for 7 grand sad but true.me and my friend just did his golen 383 stroker, had heads done by loyd elliott. spent close to 13 thousand dollars just on the engine. a month later their are two guys selling 383 and 396 stroker cars, heads, cam all forged for 11-12,000 and they can't even get their asking price, one lowered to 10 thousand. your better off finding a whole car allready built for about the same price.this is sad but true take care.

Not to hijack the thread but.......

Bret, SlowZ28, Racerdude

I happen to have a LT1 bare block sitting in my garage........It spun a main bearing. Make an offer if you want it. Bret, I know you, we could wheel and deal......

I have a shipping company thats cheap. I can get quotes with zip codes.
