P0443 = Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) purge solenoid control circuit

You should really bookmark Shoebox's code list:

We can tell its OBD-II, because of the Pxxxx format for the code.

The EEC purge solenoid is located on the bracket in the middle of the passenger side of the intake manifold. The solenoid is burned out, or the connector is not connected properly.

You can also find info about virtually any component on Shoebox's website.

your evaporitive system is baisically just a system to control the evaporating gas fumes from your gas tank back into your intake manifold. if it doesnt work you will just produce more HC emmisions.

But the EEC evaporative emissions system is not part of the "egr stuff".... it is an independant system. From my experience, when it is not working, you generally get a lot of gasoline smell from the rear of the car. Collecting the fumes, and then burning them in the engine would actully help fuel mileage.

Just curious - Why would you remove parts when you don't even know their function?
