Exclamation code 26 quad driver fault

Alright guys my SES light has been going off for a while and i went to have it looked at and a code 26 quad driver fault came up, has anyone had and experience with this before? Everyone I talk to seems to think it is an ecm issue. However, the car will not start sometimes and will randomly die while driving since this light has been on. Any insight on this would be much appreciated. The car is a 93z all stock.

Most likely the fuse is blown. Check that out.

For a 1993, Quad-Driver Module (QDM) #1 circuit
applies to:
- AIR pump relay circuit
- EGR solenoid
- EVAP solenoid

The fuse for the AIR pump is often the case and could be caused by a failing AIR pump.

Would the failing air pump cause the car to die and sometimes not fire when I start it?

I had an ignition switch cause that for me years ago. Would die when hot randomly and not start for a few minutes after. Got worse and happened more and more.

Sure enough the air pump keeps blowing fuses and makes an awful noise before it does so I'm assuming the air pump is out. How much is the ignition switch? I've recently changed the coil and icm, but I have a hunch it might be the distributor. I'm getting a code 16 now also

Re: code 26 quad driver fault

To get rid of the code for the AIR pump, unplug the harness connector from the pump, then install a new fuse. AIR pump won't run but at least it won't set a code. Pump only runs for a couple minutes at startup to help the cat heat up faster, then shuts off. Should not cause the engine to stall.

DTC 16 shuts the fuel system down when it sets. If the engine is running it's a stored code. Check the harness connector at the Opti for corrosion. Clear the code. Then check right after it stalls. If DTC 16 is back you found the cause.

Another mystery with this thing, I went to turn the key and everything instantly died, could not even turn the light switch on. Would not respond to a jump either. I've heard before that having a subs in these cars can cause problems. The amp is a 4000w boss audio amp powering two 12" pioneer tsw3004spl's. any idea guys?

Check the fuse box for power and if there is none, check the fusible links up by the power distribution block...
