Code 21 TPS question

Need more input on this. The code pops up during wot then goes away. It may explain why my wot performance is horrible. wot feels like p/t, cant even brake the tires now. What else does this sensor effect because the tranny seems to start acting wierd when it happens. How do the two corespond to each other? I'm guessing the tranny uses the tps to know when it's in wot correct? If there was a problem with the tps why doesnt the light stay on, why does it pop up and go away?

Re: Code 21 TPS question

The TPS voltage is higher than 4.9V at some point during WOT. Sounds like you may have a defective TPS sensor with a bad winding that is applying the full 5.0V reference voltage to the signal wires. Check the operation/voltage of the TPS sensor as you slowly open the throttle. It should increase smoothly from 0.5V to about 4.5V (+/- .3V) as you slowly open the throttle. It should not have any spikes in the voltage, which appears to be what you are getting.

What is your close throttle voltage?

I didnt even think to check. Ill find out on my way to work. So would this account for why my loss of wot power?

Re: Code 21 TPS question

Closed it shows .76. At WOT it hits the high 4's but not 5.0. It seems to go through the numbers smoothly.

Re: Code 21 TPS question

Sounds normal, but the code only sets when it goes over 4.90V. Is it possible the blades are over-rotating? Is it possible the sensor is loose on the throttle body? Try jiggling the harness connector when you move the blades.

Actually, we noticed on the autoXray that we were only seeing 99% @ wot so we grinded of some material on the throttle body. Now the blades open up way to much. Think that's the reason?
