Angry Clutch Problem- stuck in neutral! HELP!!

So, I just got 3.73 gears and a Spec stage 3 carbon clutch put in 65 miles ago. #1 problem is that the whole car shakes when I'm trying to go into 1st gear, and sometimes even into 2nd gear. But it doesn't seem to be there if I raise the rpm's up while shifting.
#2- Biggest problem:
The other day I was turning the car around in the street, when I placed it in reverse to back out of a drive way to turn around the shifter wouldn't go into reverse or into any gear. It would just be stuck in neutral. When I shut off the car, then I can put it in any gear. When I start it in 1st with the clutch pressed all the way down the car jumps. The cylinder for clutch fluid is full also. My mechanic has it now. He got it to go in any gear now while the car is on. BUT when he lets go of the clutch, while on the motion of letting go of the clutch he hears this crunching sound under the clutch pedal, but the sound goes away when the clutch is let go totally. He's pulling the trany off today to take a look at everything. I called spec, they are not sure what's up. Could it be a spring on the pressure plate that let go? Also, does this sound like a problem on installation? I just don't want to be soaked with the bill from the mechanic if it was his fault to begin with.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks

When my pilot BEARING went out the car exhibited the same symptoms you describe. Except my crunching was a grind, just like when you try to put the car in 1st without the clutch.

The bearing had shed its needles everywhere.

Replaced the BEARING with a BEARING. Apparently, there was a BEARING in there before, but previous stock was a BUSHING.

Ok, I got more info now. My mechanic took the clutch disc and pressure plate out. There are grooves and chunks out of the discs on BOTH sides of the disc plate. There are also grooves in the pressure plate. Spec said that they would replace it. They were great on the phone. But I'm still puzzled how this happened or what caused the grooves especially on both sides of the discs.
