clutch pedal vibrates then clutch goes out
so I'm back. just got my car back on the road. on my way to work my clutch pedal vibrated the whole time. it felt like it was engaging fine to start but faded over the drive. almost got to work and the clutch completely gave out. no shifting for me after that. I've only ever rebuilt transmissions, I have not dealt with clutches. is this normal for a clutch to go out like that? the clutch is not new by any means. its been about 10 years since its been worked. but only 80k for miles. I just wonder how a clutch could go from working perfectly to 10 miles later not at all. please help.

Re: clutch pedal vibrates then clutch goes out
I didn't install it. the transmission was rebuilt and installed right before I bought it 10 years ago. the pedal does feel way softer than normal and goes all the way down with little pressure.

Re: clutch pedal vibrates then clutch goes out
i'll have to check. it's been a long week and I haven't been able to even look at it. hopefully I get to it today. I did notice some fluid on the floor of my garage when I pulled it out. I didn't know what it went to but it wasn't much at all.

Sometines the cylinders fail without external leakage...fluid gets past the piston seals,
You can dry bleeding the system but. If that doesn't help you'll just have to replace both the master and slave cylinders.
