Clunking/squeaking from the rear

Driving around I am always hearing a loud clunking/squeaking when I go over bumps or come out of a driveway it is real bad. It sounds like it is the rear passenger shock or spring. Regualr driving seems to be ok and the bumps will do it occassionally but when I do up into a driveway or out of one (or parking lots) the noise is just ridiculous.

Is it time for new shocks/springs?

Car has 42k on it.

mine does the same thing. however, in my case, it is my drivers side lower control arm. i think i just need new bushing. if i oil them, the noise stops but comes back in a few weeks.

I don't have any of the suspension pieces put in yet but I will. Did you have it before or just after? What all did you install? I have SFCs, LCAs, and the relocation brackets at home waiting to be put in.

It only started this year too. I don't even recall it last year and I could swear it is the shock or spring. Maybe a set of Hals will be the next mod.

In my case I do not think that an LCA can make that much noise. It really is loud. Maybe I will get a tape recorder and get some sounds of it.

I installed Tubular Welded SFCs, STB, front and rear sway bars (ALL BMR), and Ground-Control coilovers.. my suspension squeaks over light bumps/turns, and clunks over heavy bumps/turns.

The squeaking got ALOT worse after leaving my car on jackstands overnight one time...

Just to throw in another couple cents to the pot--> check out your exhaust clearances. Both my friend and I had 91 talons (mine since traded ) but both of us wouls swear we had something wrong with our passenger rear suspension, BOTH turned out to be exhaust rubbing (only really did on bumpy roads or curbs etc.). Ive heard my share of clunky suspensions, and I would SWEAR its about identical.

here is what i did. i went the the drivers sider rear fenderwell and started bouncing it up and down so i could pinpoint the noise. in my case, it turned out to be the lca. on my car it makes a rather loud clunking noise with the right bumps. try to bounce your back end up and down and see if you can hear it. you can do it like i did one side at a time if its hard to tell from bouncing the whole rear.

Agree, that's the best way to find the problem.
