Clearancing block for 383
Clearancing block for 383
How difficult is it to clearance a block for a 383 stroker rebuild?
I've decided I'm at the very least doing a 355 rebuild, with new bearings, pistons, rods, and probably a crank. I figure, midaswell do a 383, but I'm not sure about clearancing the block myself.

Watch your oil pan as well. I had a very small area that rubbed ever so slighty. A little tap from the ball peen hammer(It did not take much at all) and it rubbed no more. No leaks either.Like I said, hit it ever so slighty and continue to test fit it. Better to go small than way too much.
BTW: I can understand the DIY mentality. I have lots of things, once, to prove I could do it, learn something, etc. So if you want to DIY, I understand. In that case, a tip. Grinding cast iron require a good die grinder. The pneumatic types are far superior to the electric models - they are lighter, smaller, and more powerful.
