Cig Lighter Enough To Power Seat?

GOt seats with power bolster but I don't have the connector for them to plug right into. I'm going to ground to one of the screws sticking out of the floor that the seat bolts onto but for the + will the ciggarette lighter be enough? Don't want to be blowing fuses everytime I try to use the seats.

I thought all cars have the plug for power even if they don't have power seats from the factory. I don't think you would want to use the cigarette lighter as its hot all the time. I think you would want something only hot when the ignition is on.

What else would I use as a power? I haven't gone digging under the carpet so I may have the connector...it'll save trouble if I do. I just felt around and didn't notice it.

The seat is always hot, anyway. The difference is that the seat has a 30 amp breaker and the lighter has a 25 amp fuse.

You're right once again shoebox. Now that i think about it i know i've sat in my TA seats and played with the air bags while the car was shut off.

What is going to be powerful enough to run the seat without blowing a fuse? Hopefully the connector is there....

I think you would be ok with the cig lighter circuit as long as you don't use the lighter and move the seat at the same time (and maybe ok, even if you do). I mean, neither one is probably used that often.

Re: Cig Lighter Enough To Power Seat?

True I never use the lighter since I don't smoke, I have a feeling my girlfriend will be playing with the seat often though. But anyways I was digging around under the carpet and found the connector for it so now theres no need to go and splice wires That just made my day, Now I gotta wait for the harness I bought to show up so I can put the seats in...

Wait until you hook up the seats and they don't work. It seems like a lot people have problems keeping the power lumbar and bolsters working. My pass side quit working and a lot of people on www.ls1tech.com complain about it.

I guess you found a different one than mine? It's cool, just wanted to know if I should be looking to hear from you.
