Cheap, Good springs.. where?

I'm looking for a set of decent valve springs, something better than stock that can handle 1.6 or 1.7 rockers easily without breaking the bank. Someone suggested LT4s, how good are they?

LT4s are your lowest cost option but only good to about .510" lift. I know the
hotcam has .525" lift and people run them, but I don't like a .035" safety margin to
coil bind. Another lower cost ($100) option is the Isky 235-D which is good to
.550" lift.

Will the Isky run with the stock hardware or do they come with their own?

I bought Iskys initially before I did the first spring swap back in 2003. I was told
that they are a direct replacement and they appeared to be just that. I did not
actually install them or mock them up. I changed plans and went with the Comp
26918s and sold the Iskys. Since the Iskys are a 1.26 OD spring they should
drop in place of a stocker. They have a damper, but it's about .900" ID which
should work with the stock hardware.

LT4 springs are what most people use for 1.6 rockers on a stock cam. A set can be had new for about $40, but you may be able to get them cheaper in the classified section from someone who is upgrading the springs on their hotcam kit.
