Re: Charging Problems

i think i might have fixed the problem I installed the racetronix wiring harness for the fuel pump and now my dash gauge is almost 3/4 the only time it drops down now is when i'm in gear at a light with the head lights on and defogger running
Any body know a good idle RPM for a CC 305 cam i'm thinking 700-800 RPM ???

Dude I had the same problem for over 2 years myself. The Racetronix fuel pump and wire harness fix the problem. I tryed everything too. You can do a search and find my post on that.
It's been 6 months now a not a drop pass 12.2 volts. I wish I know that from the start cause I spent a lot of money trying to fix it.

Re: Charging Problems

did you guys get the whole system 135-FLT1-FPK2 or just the assembly 135-FLT1-FPA? or could i get the harness 135-FLT1-FPWHG-2 and get the pump from holley since it is cheaper.

Re: Charging Problems

Well I got a good deal on the both. I think my pump was on the way out. The car ran better with just the pump done. I had run the wiring with the car on a lift a few days later... Now I know I'm getting enough fuel..

Re: Charging Problems

Just to let you guys in i installed a racetronix pump and wiring harness and i think it just masked my problems. Because when i'm at WOT the voltage to all my sensors start to drop. Have you guys monitored them? My TPS voltage drop down to 3.9 volts and falls to 80% throttle even though i still had the pedal to the floor. Also my pcm voltage is falling to at high rpms. I'm trying to locate my problem still.

Re: Charging Problems

I would change the fuel pump too. Only when I did both it was 100%. I had voltage droppen every where.

If you are talking to me i did both of them. Have you actually monitored your sensor voltage under a load?

Yeah. Everything cleared up once I did to racetronix kit. Did you reset your computer? Sometimes the computer will hold the code and keep acting f-ed up.

I'm not getting any codes, i've watched the voltage drop on datamaster. If you hook your car up to some sort of laptop/scanmaster i bet you will see a lot lower voltage at your pcm which can cause some problems. I may be wrong but i'd look into it.

I have autoxray and datamaster. Like I said after I did the fuel pump and wire harness and reset the computer my voltage problems cleared up. Getting 12 volts now.

Re: Charging Problems

sounds like you may have a different problem . But when i bought my Z last year the voltage would drop at idle. seemed to clear up at a higher RPM. I replaced the battery and Alt. after about two months it turned out the previous ower had put a smaller Pulley on the crank and it wouldnt spin the ALT fast enough at Idle. I switch it back to the larger one and been fine sence. Just thought i would share that..

Happy motoring.....

Re: Charging Problems

I have a 35% under drive on my car. I just rised the idel 50 rpm. Keeps me at very worse of 12.3 volts @ avg. of 13.6 to 12.8.
