changing the pcm to the fans
changing the pcm to the fans
hey everybody i was recommended by the LT1 guys on this website about changing the pcm to my fans, because i don't like the stock temp of 226 low speed and 235 high speed. i went to the website that i was recommended too, but i was wondering is it better to run the car cooler. And if i get the pcm changed at what temp would my fans come on at? my camaro has the both fan speeds 226 at low and 235 at high.thank u
Re: changing the pcm to the fans
Generally running the car cooler is great for HP, but not for emissions. So that's a trade-off.
Any good mail-order tuner can program your fan operation. You can really take advantage of this with a 160-degree thermostat.
My fans come on around 170, and the car never goes above 180 tops.

Re: changing the pcm to the fans
Ideally you don't want the funs running all the time. If the car can cool itself w/o fans, but by moving through the air then that is ideal.
For example if you were to cruise around town at like 40mph with the fans off, the system will stabilize at some temperature. If this temp isn't too high then it might work well setting fan1 to come on like 5-10 degrees higher.
I used the standard hypertech settings and fan 1 is running all the time to maintain 180, I'd rather have it be 190 if it means fan 1 isnt on all the time.

You don't need to make this so difficult
Used this for years.
