Lightbulb Changed TPS now car won't start...

recently had to change my tps because the original one some how got damaged. But now the car won't start up. It turns over good but won't start. Is there a certain way you have to install a tps? I remember when i was putting they new one on i had to wiggle it left and right until it slid on all the way. I don't know but i need to go to work tomorrow and i need my car to be running like yesterday...any help would be appreciated..

Reset the PCM by pulling the fuse for a few minutes. If that doesn't work then you'll need to check the reference signal with a volt meter.

Got a way to look at scan data for your car? It will tell you if the TPS is working properly.

It's also possible you got a bad replacement TPS, especially if you bought something other than the OEM replacement part. See if you can get your hands on another (preferably the factory part) and swap it out.

Re: Changed TPS now car won't start...

ok i got the car to start but now i have an even worse problem. Shortly after driving it the whole car shut down on me. When i got it started again i took it to autozone and the only code that popped up was p0372 which supposedly was the crank sensor but i already had that replaced.. and on top of that my RPM gauge doesn't work. It stays at 0rpm the whole time...i'm getting frustrated and don't know what else to do....please help!!!!!!!!!

Some potentially "bad" news. P0372 is NOT for the crank position sensor. It's high resolution failure in the opti. However, it could be the opti harness. There's a sticky for how to do that. Do that first before buying an opti.

yea i was afraid of that. Well i remember that i have a 90 day warranty on the opti that i purchased so i guess i'm gonna call the place i bought it from and let them know whats going on..

Perhaps you bumped and/or damaged the opti harness when you installed the TPS? It runs in that vicinity.
