What's up with this wiring

I decided to check out the wiring under my alternator and came across this.
I wanted to check the red wire under and connecter to the alternator. It was fine but I seen something that caught my eye.
These wires run down to the AC compressor. Green and Black. The Black wire was cut and connected back together with a Blue connecter. But the other end had The red wire Connected. The red wire ran up to a Red connecter. The red connecter connected to a resistor and connected to another red connecter. That connecter connected 2 Green wires together. The 2 green wires ran into the main wire harness along with the rest of the wires.
Why would this all be this way?. What would this do?

By the way, Is anyone else having a problem using picture trail to add image links on this site lately?

Impossible for us to tell. You have to trace the wires yourself and see where they go. I can tell you though that is not factory wiring or a patch repair.

It's probably the diode that is part of the a/c compressor circuit (redone by someone at some point).

I think your right Shoebox. I traced up the wires as RamAir95TA stated and the wires looped back some weird way.
