I've got the XE 230/236 in my car... I also still have the stock heads. I have not had it on a dyno since the install, but it seems to have quite a bit more power... Though there isnt much torque down low, once I get a set of heads on the car it should be awesome!

If you want to drop the powerband play with the LSA, you will not have to rev higher other than to shift. These cams dont peak at 6800 RPM or anything like that, I sure hope nobody believes that.

I tuned my buddies car with the Xe 230/236 cam & stock heads & Mac headers, & stock rockers, & now he's got more torque down low than stock he says, the car has no cam surge & just rips everything up, I've very impressed.

i need to choose a new cam and i was going with 230/236.... but i like the sounds of that crane!!!! any idea what it would lay down...how's the driveability?
Depends on how well the heads were ported. My heads are no GTP stage 3 heads, just a set of "Econoport" heads that flow 255/188 @ .500 lift and with the GM 847/Crane119841 cam I made 412rwhp, 371rwtq on the stock bottom end with alot more room left to improve.

Hey Shon I am in the same boat as you right now and i am really thinking hard about a CCXE 230/242 556/576 113 l/s for both N20 and N/A. I talked to a guy at TEA and he told me that is the cam I need for my setup but it is very close to the GM 847 which is probably my other choice. LMK what you decide to buy. Later Clint

I love the xe230/236. Even with stock stall, I'm driving around and ripping it up just fine. Dyno numbers will come tomorrow and track numbers either tomorrow or friday hopefully :-). I also have a vigi converter to throw in but I want times before converter first so all you folks w/ stock verters will know how it performs w/o big stall. Also, I'm just lazy right now after doing all the other stuff and that will at least let me run drag radials and hook up decent. With big stall and these nittos I think I would have some problems :-).

For some reason, no one has mentioned the XE236/242 cam. I have this cam in my stock shortblock with ported heads and all the bolt ons etc. I personally love this cam and dont understand why some of the stroker guys dont use it. It is a very aggressive cam for a mild setup. But for Shon, I believe this cam would work work well. I will have dyno numbers a week from sat(May 17th) and then I will know where it peaks at etc. This cam drives great on the street, and there is only a small amount of cam surge down at about 1500 rpm. But since I had a Vig 3200 and now a 3600, they tend to take away alot of the driveablility issues that the M6 guys have. So to make this short, go with the XE236/242.

Dont get me wrong, I was very impressed with the results. I installed a new set of valvesprings today and almost lost control shifting from 2nd to 3rd on a WOT run... My tires do need to be replaced, but they will come in time. I am pleased with the results. I also found that my #7 Cylinder had a midfire. The something had eaten through it and it was arching off of the block!! So after having fixed that problem and changing my springs I gained quite a bit after what I had initially thought how it was supposed to run. I drove a 1985 Silverado around for a month and got back in my car and felt like I was "fast" but in turn was not doing much better than stock after LTs, cam, electric WP, etc... Problems are fixed and all is good. I still vote for the XE 230/236

I have the 230/236 XE in my car, the reason your not as happy with your setup is lack of tunning (blasted 93 ). Not saying that the tunning job in my car is the best but it sure increased drivability and plenty of torque down low. My car behaves like a stock car but sounds and performs bad ***.

The HOT cam will be for sale. Also the LT4 heads/intake might be for sale as well......

I had not thought of the 236/242 cam, where is its peak?

I dont know if this matters but when i had this 355 rebuilt i put in the ARP rod bolts that are the 'middle' grade. How far can i spin this thing? I had always thought 6500ish would be the max but if it is OK to spin it higher then i might....

Keep the discussion going!!
