CC306 Questions

Well, I have come to a deciscion, for my situation right now, I am going to get a CC306 Cam for my Daily Driver M6 1997 LT1 SS. What other necessary parts will I need besides a Tune. (the reason I picked the 306 is because my friends said dont bother wasting money on a smaller cam , cause you will just want to go bigger.) Thanks all!

Re: CC306 Questions

Well, if you want to do it as cheap as possible, you could simply replace the springs and leave the rockers, lifters, pushrods, and timing set. I did that on my car and it ran fine for a while with that cam.

Its really up to you. Either way you go is gonna be fine and make good power. I really liked the cc306 in my M6. It really likes ported heads and a stout valvetrain too.

Re: CC306 Questions

At the bare minimum, I will have new springs, new 1.6 RR, and hardened pushrods with tuning, with the cam. I am debating getting lifters. Will they be necessary? About what 1/4 time will i run with what Power and TQ?

I need to find a cam I dont' have ported heads, just the stock ones. Anyone recommend good already ported heads for my 97 formula?

Re: CC306 Questions

Well as a refrence:

My 95 firehawk
cc306
stock firehawk airbox
mac headers, no cats
hooker catback
stock rockers
comp 941 springs (not highly recomended)
cheap hardened pushrods
stock lifters
stock heads
stock intake
52mm TB
------------
346/340 through an M6.

Power peaked around 62-6300.

Re: CC306 Questions

I'll be getting a 3200 stall converter, headers and a y pipe. Then I'm getting new wheels and tires, then some more appearance and suspension mods. How much will good heads and a cam cost together? I'm lookin to get them as a pack, maybe around 3900-4300 bucks.

Re: CC306 Questions

wow, 4300 would get you AFR heads. 2k will get you a good H/C package. Then add gaskets, lifters, rockers, pushrods, and fluids.

Expect to spend about 2500 for a complete head/cam swap.
