CC306 Question
CC306 Question
How will it run with stock manifolds for one month, with programming, after which I will put hooker LT's on?
Also, how will it react with a low/no stall TC? I don't think mine is stock, but my tach is dead, so I can't really test it.

i'm gonna go with kain here and say you need supporting mods first. this is a relatively big cam especially for a stock heads car with stock manifolds, keep in mind bigger is not always better. you could lose your low end with this cam and then your setup wont let you make power where the cam is made to run so your car has, marginal drivability, **** gas mileage more than likely, and in all likelyhood is slower than when it was stock

Even though I made over 400 RWHP with that cam I'm more of a fan of the XE lobes. Like the 230/236 or 236/242. They produce more power under the curve and reach peak at a lower rpm than the magnum lobes (cc306). HTH

Well, i wasn't really concerned with losing power or anything, I know it isn't going ot give me drastic gains or anything, that's obvious. My main questionm is will it be driveable at all with this cam and no programming(I will need to drive it to the shop)...
You can drive it to the shop if you want, just keep an eye on the temp gages b/c it might run a little lean. As long as it isn't a loong way to the show you should be fine. Many people put of the programing of their car for a while ( not a good idea) although they do have headers instead of the manifold.
I did the the CC306 swap into a _COMPLETELY_ stock '93 T/A M6 many years ago... even had the stock cat-back on it. It was driveable, even with the stock programming on it... just felt a little soft on the bottom end (under 2k rpm). Going from stock intake, manifolds and stock exhaust to a CAI, cc306 programming, LT headers, and aftermarket exhaust dropped over a second off the e.t., and added over 10mph to my trap speed, though.
With an A4, I'd be a little reluctant... not because you don't have headers yet, but with a stock stall, it would be a pain to drive (probably stall out a lot, ect.).

I was checking through the Comp Cams catalog and the only cams I found that had those specs were the XE Retrofit cams. Is that what you have to use? The cams for factory hydraulic roller all said EXCEPT LT1/4, and under the LT1/4 listings there weren't any that had those duration specs. Sorry if this seems like a noob question, I'm just beginning to look for another cam, I've got a Hotcam right now and want something bigger. Thanks
