Re: cc306 cam

Stock gears wont be the problem but not having it tuned for the cam can be a bigger issue , If i was you i would change everything you can and get a tune to match cam gears etc.

Re: cc306 cam

Definitely need a tune, that cam is pretty big unless you have headwork done

Re: cc306 cam

That cam in a DD on stock heads is an overall mistake, much less that cam on a DD with stock heads and stock gears. Maybe try a search on what works and what doesn't.

Re: cc306 cam

I didn't mind my CC306 when I had one, but I didn't really daily drive the car. I had 3.73's at first, then 4.11's. Knowing what I know now I'd pick a different camshaft for a daily driver. Street/strip do whatever you want, but daily driver I'd look else where with or without head work.

On that note I never had a vacuum issue with the CC306.

Re: cc306 cam

I have 3.42s in my 12 Bolt because thats what it came with, switching to 3.90s though. Driven the car like this for a while, it drives fine, very well mannered on the highway. Be interesting to see the difference the gears make since I haven't driven it yet with 3.90s. Far as driving the car untuned with a CC306? Drove the car pretty much untuned after the EFI 24X, just the base line changes and a make it idle tune, nite mare and a half. Car drove like garbage. It still needs a little more driviability tuning, but it actually does drive nice with the tune. CC306 isn't a bad cam, but I am sure on my set up I gave up power using it over a custom cam.
