need help with oil pressure sender sensor

wire was cut about 6 months back when pressure plate exploded. everything is fixed now but my oil pressure sender. i only have about 4 inches of a green with black stip wire on top of sensor coming from it where its cut. i cant find the other side of the cut wire anywhere. can someone post a pic if possible to show me where the wire goes in the harness? i seen a pic on the net with one having a orange wire. all i could find and didnt find a wire there. does the wire go all the way down near the tranny where most my wires were cut? thanks

Re: need help with oil pressure sender sensor

the PO of my camaro had cut the wire too. I found it under the loom tubing on the harness leading to the transmission tunnel on the drivers side near the rear most cylinder. You may be searching a while...

The wire should be tan on a 95 f-body.

Re: need help with oil pressure sender sensor

i have been searching a while. arms got to shakey and scratched up, had to call it a day. and i took the sensor out and it is a lime green wire with a black stripe. 100% positive. mine points to the pasanger side also instead of the drivers. dont know if someone did that in the build but it still is on the drivers side. just points to the other side. am i able to run a new wire somehow? does it go to pcm first before the dash? but it was working fine before it was cut

Re: need help with oil pressure sender sensor

The oil pressure sensor is wired directly to the dash cluster, via pin B of connector C220. The wire is routed through the big grommet in the firewall, behind the PCM. Does not go to the PCM.

Shoebox has the connector face info. Connector C220 is in the lower left corner of the wiring harness photo linked in a post above:

Perhaps something was modified or taken from another model car, but your wire color is different from documentation of all 93-97s.

The I/P cluster pinout shows no wire with the color you describe going to it. The only light green/black wire I can find anywhere in the engine harness goes to the IAC.

Re: need help with oil pressure sender sensor

Maybe someone already did a "pigtail" install?????

I just checked a picture of my sensor, and the wire is sort of brown.... which may be "tan" with 17 years of aging. But it's not green.

Re: need help with oil pressure sender sensor

i took the plug off the oil sender and brought it inside for a closer look with better lighting. and someone has stuck the green wire down in the plug and put black liquid gasket on top to seal it off. still couldnt find the wire either. i can see 2 tan lookin wires in the one harness but so hard to get to and dont see a broke end. i dont know what someone has done before me to rig it up and i dont like it that way. improper readings like that. so i decided i will get a oil pressure guage with the new sender and all new wiring of coarse with it to go in my tri pod

Re: need help with oil pressure sender sensor

With the info on the harness that you already have, and simply buying a new, correct pigtail for the sensor (see Shoebox's part # list), there is no reason you can't just wire it up. I have an aftermarket mechanical gauge in the dash, and it shows the stock dash gauge to be very accurate. Didn't really need the new guage.

Re: need help with oil pressure sender sensor

well i have the pod for 3 gauges i custom fit by bending it with a heat gun and i dont have any gauges in it. they dont make one that holds 3 gauges for my year. was wanting digital readings on oil pressure and oil temp and not sure what else, was wanting to get a nice shift light that autometer makes. there alot of money tho. i know it wouldnt be that hard to rewire the sender. i was wanting to get a new oil sender anyway and it comes with a gauge. what do u think?

Re: need help with oil pressure sender sensor

I have multiple gauges in the 3 center vents and a dual A-pillar pod. I'd like to add another, and the oil pressure gauge could go. I chose a mechanical gage with a -3AN line from the tap above the oil filter to the center vent hole. The 2-5/8" gauge does get your attention.

Re: need help with oil pressure sender sensor

i clicked on ur link. ur car looks great and a very clean look. getting more rare the older these cars get. the ac vents work out great in the pontiacs for gauges. i have a pic of my pod in my link bout half way down. nothin special. it a universal i picked up at autozone. i took my pillar out the car and heated up the pod little at a time and shaped it to my pillar. most people wouldnt know i made it work and think i bought it that way. are ur pillar gauges bright at night? i know there pretty close to the drivers face

Re: need help with oil pressure sender sensor

Autometer makes little red caps that go over the bulbs. As a result they match the Pontiac red lighted gauges. The faculty is the only thing that isn't red.
