Cc306

About to buy it for my LT1 w/ 112k on the clock. Could somebody link me to the valve springs that are recommended for this swap?

cc306

summit suggested part number CCA-986-16 for this cam. I had them on mine and never had a problem.

I used to run the 986 springs with my CC306 cam and didn't realy think they controled the valve that well. I use the PAC 1218 springs now and have much better valve control (installed at 1.775"). My MAP also shows no sign of valve float as it did with the 986 springs. Another good spring set up to go with if you can't foot the bill for the 1218 springs is the Patriot Gold Exteme spring set. I don't have personal experiance with those but they should work as well.

Summit says these are required for installation of new springs:

True? If so I'm copping that set too.

I got mine through comp and they made them with the long dowel pin so noone had to "buy a new pin" but could just grind it down is what I was told.

...and it has the longer dowel pin!

Does the pin need to be tampered with at all if I have the unvented opti? Shoebox's site seems to allude that it doesn't.

if you have the unvented setup, the dowel pin is shorter than the ones for the vented. so yes, you will have to tamper with it.

Keep an eye on the for sale section in a week or two. That or I'll keep it and run it, it's a good cam to spite what nay sayers want you to think. It's been in the 9's at least once.
