Which catback is better??????hp and sound meaning
I don't have straight pipes, but I have the next best thing. I have Hooker LT's and a four inch Mufflex with the Mufflex Y-pipe.
I have heard the lame argument "You don't NEED that large of an exhaust until you have over 500 horsies... blah, blah, blah.." Why REDO your exhaust at a later date? I went with a flowmaster initially with my LT's and it was a mistake (compared to the Mufflex anyway..) There is a substantial difference between this setup and the Flowmaster catback. (But then again, I don't have cats anymore
)
Plus, the guys at Meineke Muffler were putting my SFC's on my car Monday and they said they hear me driving past their place every day. They claimed my setup is the free-est flowing and best sounding street setup they have ever been seen and heard.

LM does not sound like crap, it sounds just like an American V8 should sound, "loud and thunderous"
I personally have had nothing but compliments on the sound of my car
I guess having an opinion is bad??? I guess my car isn't a real American V8

I am apt to go along with IDOXLR8. American V8? Probably so, but sounds like one in a dump truck. Just MHO. I prefer refinement over raw.

but anywho, it aint got no muffler, so you know it flows very well and only costs $350 shipped, well thats what i payed with the s-pipe through a GP from TByrne over a year ago
I guess i'm just a "nitty/gritty" kinda guy

EDIT: looks like the poll is swinging in the LM's favor

I have Borla on my car and I think it sounds fantastic. BUT, if I were putting a system on a fairly stock vehicle I'd go with the 2OTL (two on the left) system. I have yet to hear another system that sounds that good on a LT1. Not sure bout its flow #'s but damn it sounds good!!
dynomax sounds good and is all stainless steel. the dynomax muffler is hollow like the corsa muffler and it resonates the sound at higher rpm's. at low rpm's, the sound is dead like stock. and they are cheap. 350 shipped from advanced or autozone. as for the numbers, 3" pipe into a muffler and dual 2.5" pipe is all the same to me. remove the muffler and you have even more.

For a reasonably priced stainless system, 2OTL. If money is no object, the chambered system from GMMP.

Next choice for me might be a flowmaster single in/out 3" setup, and replace the muffler with a Hooker aero chamber, some dont like single in/out but crossflow mufflers are icky to me. I dont need a fake dual exaust to feel more manly, and I dont need bling bling chrome tips that stick out half a foot either.
So, in the interest of budget and cool sound, I'd go with a 3" setup with an aero chamber, and a cutout. If money is no object, a GMMG with cutout for track days.
At the moment I just have a 3" cutout on the stock catback, before the axle.
Okay let me break it down for all you people that don't know... corsa, borla, gmgg or whatever is a ripoff. You are paying for a shiny catback that nobody will ever see... Okay if you have the money to waste which I'm sure not many of us have, buy one and be a sucker. Besides the Borla which so many people like sounds like a can full of BB's. And as for flowmaster, if I hear another played out flow I am going to puke. Every car owner that doesn't know jack **** about his car says the first thing he or she is going to do is put some flows. Like they are some kind of magical power adder or something, they sound like garbage and do absolutely nothing.
I have the best of all worlds - I got a cutout and some chrome hooker tips. I got looks, I got sound, and I got power. All for a whopping 35 bucks plus installation. Whoever pays more than 300 for a new catback is a SUCKER. There are better performaing exhaust systems I will give you that, but find a better performing exhaust system than mine for 50 or 60 bucks. I'll fax you a cookie.
