Correct me if im wrong but i dont think the valve guides wether new or worn do much in the way of keeping oil out. Im not sure but when i did a valve job on my heads i didnt touch the guides.
I mean if you took off the valve seals on brand new heads or some with 200k it would burn oil either way wouldn't it?

Not trying to be a dick im just unsure.

No, that is wrong. The problem never stopped and then came back again. What happened was, after replacing my valve stem seals it stopped smoking on cold start, but still puffs white/grey when hot(which it has always done)

I think he covered that. Check the torque on you intake manifold. You might have an intake gasket leaking from the inside, I dont think that would be unheard of. It would only take 1 out of the 16 seals to be messed up to burn a little oil at startup. when my car was doing the same thin i only had 2 seals that were really torn/leaking bad. A new set of Felpro's solved the problem. Also, how new is your PCV valve?

how many miles are on this car?(if it hasnt already been asked)

Im positive that the valve seals are good, they are all brand new. I checked the pcv valve a while back and shook it, and the little flap thing moved fine. (duno if thats the problem w/ it but that part worked). Car has 100k onit. To check torque on intake manifold would I need to remove anything? Whatare the torque specs? Thanks for the help.

EDIT: Also the old seals I took off didnt look bad no tears or anything but I think some of them slide off of the valve guides and up onto the stem some which caused a big part of it.

I do care if you put 100 new seals on, if the guides are worn they will never seal. The valve guides are meant to keep the in a stright up. Since the guode wear out they can close at any angle. Which would make the seals deflect and aloow oil to slip by.

There that makes sence...duh i couldnt figure it out, why the guides would do it.

But given the amount of miles you car has already i think it would be a waste of money to just pull of the heads only to fix it from smoking alittle bit. Just wait until you do a rebuild.
