Yeah I just found some information on replacing them and I don't think it should be too bad. I'll actually make sure that's the problem later today after classes are over. Dang, college is keeping me busy and after this it's med school... I have a strange feeling I won't have much time to work on this car when that rolls around!

Pretty sure, when you replace the mounts. You wont have the shaking problem no more.

Yeah, the problem is getting a little worse. . . .uh oh. It's definitely more of a problem at low RPMs than high, especially with soft acceleration and gentle deceleration. I'm putting it on jackstands again tonight and I'll order new engine mounts pretty soon. Is there a mount that's better than another? Here's an option:

I don't know? I went with stock mounts with My Buick.

Okay, so I put the car on jacks and started it. The engine runs smooth as ever, but the engine mounts, particularly the left one (if you are looking toward the rear of the car) is moving back and forth quite a bit. The rubber on both is old with tons of micro-cracks in it, even though it is still intact for the most part. What do you all think? Engine mounts need to be replaced? Will that fix the gentle shake at low RPMs and while idling? Thanks!

Alright....Time to do this. I also hear a bad EGR valve can cause bucking on acceleration, which is also occurring. The EGR is a bit cheaper to fix first. What do you think I should try first. The mounts or EGR?

94Camaro:
Did you car "buck" on acceleration with the bad engine mounts, too?

Do both! Your crossing out two items off the list. EGR valve then Mounts. If it bucks as you say it when you accelerate it means the engine literally jumps off the engine mounts.

Hmm, it doesn't really buck hard--I describe it more as lugging when the rpms are low and I'm speeding up lightly from 45-50mph.

But yeah, it's obnoxious so I might as well do both. *sigh* What do you guys think about Rock Auto Parts? They sell AC Delco EGR valve there for $67.00.

You say it only happens in gear... I wonder if it might be engine-load related? What does it do in 'P' with the A/C on, or any other means of loading the motor at idle?

That's what I'm leaning more towards, but a few people are telling me this can be caused by the bad EGR and engine mounts. The gentle shake is exaggerated in gear, but it does gently shake while idling, too.

Basically, it happens when I am idling whether I am in gear or not, when I accelerate softly at low RPMs while driving between 45-55mph, and when I decelerate under 5 mph. It's not that bad at all, but it is definitely noticeable while going 45-55mph. If I shift up a gear and take it out of overdrive, the RPMs go up to 2200 and then it feels smoother again.

Before you go and throw money on stuff,I would check for vacuum leaks. Those little hoses on the pass side of the engine, ect. If you haven't had the intake manifold gasket replaced, this could be a problem.hope this helps.

Not OPTI! I have had Opti failures two times. What he is experiencing is not Opti related. ENGINE MOUNTS!

Fat dog, it does. I don't think it's the opti. It's pretty much brand new. Vacuum leaks make more sense, but I am noticing quite a bit of engine movement when blipping the throttle, so I might as well replace the mounts first and go from there. There is a slight hissing coming from the driver's side of the radiator. Any ideas there?
