I'd go with a nice 160 deg. thermostat and some of this...

My car (with a CSI pump also) stays around 170 with the AC on in the summer here in Jax, FL.

I've never tried it myself but my machinist uses that water wetter stuff in his race car and he said it works. Might want to try that

use bigger wires... atleast the size of the csi wires... 14 gauge is smaller than 12... you should have to use any water wetter or anything, my csi also keeps the temp right above 160 under any condition, also where did you conect the power wire to? did you connect it to the red little box thingy on teh passenger side?

I am also having a small issue w/ heat since I installed my CSI. When I'm driving around w/ plenty of airflow it runs cool. But when I'm sitting idle the temp likes to creep up on me. So I re-installed my 160* thermostat and it runs a little cooler while driving, but STILL creeps on me when sitting idle. So I just turn my fans on and knock it back down. I can't figure it out myself either.

I have been trying to find a bottle of Water Wetter here in Albuquerque but haven't yet. My mixture is 50/50, and I can't find any leaks...

hmm....i doubt that 12 guage wire will have any effect

a relay is hooked up the battery and then it runs to the fuse on the driver side..... anything wrong with that

My relay harness wire is thicker than the wire that came with the water pump as well....

the weird thing about mine is that it wil get the car down to 193 (both fans turn on at 193) at idle..you can have it sit for 20+ min in sun and it wont move up or down constant 193. As soon as i start driving it will go up to around 204 and sit there....as soon as u stop it drops down to around 193.....wtf?

I just figured if I can't figure it out, before too long I'll just throw in a GOOD oil cooler and go from there.

Exclamation

I remember an old thread about this subject...something about the pump not turning as much as the stock one at highway speeds. Meaning that it turns enough to cool the car at idle but not at highway speeds. Not sure if there is any truth to this, but in some ways it makes sense.

You would think it would run cooler rolling down the highway.

So I just stated what your post implied?

Now I'm confused, and I don't even own a CSI water pump. Good luck figuring it out though.

Your temp sounds about right when you consider that it's a new engine w/stock thermostat.

I wouldn't worry about it. Get a 160º in there if you want to keep the avg. temps cooler.
