Car overheating!?!?Help!!
Re: Car overheating!?!?Help!!
also make sure since you have a 97 you have the high milage coolant..and unless you have done a complete flush of the engine and coolant system you need to make sure you only use the high milage stuff if you try and mix it, it has a tendancy to slush up
Re: Car overheating!?!?Help!!
Ok so here it is....
Coolant was fine, yes i was use the dex cool crap (orange expensive stuff from hell as i like to call it).
I don't really see how you can put a thermostat in wrong it's kinda fool proof... but then again nothing's fool proof because people tend to forget fools are so engenious....
It was turning the right way although a great idea, if wired backwards well enough said because it would pump backwards.. but it had a black and blue wire... black = ground no brainer....
BUT
It's working..
thanks to my friend bob at the chevy dealer hehe.
it would seem that the wire we spliced into was a 5v source instead of the needed 12v source. I wasn't in charge of the wiring but i know we check the resistance with a meter and all that crap and well... i guess we goofed.
Thanks for all the input everyone! looks like i'll make it to class and work after all!

Re: Car overheating!?!?Help!!
Oh and i alsmot forgot.. yes we bleed the system and yes it was happening while cruzin... so no airpocket.. and also when i changed the oil no "latte" lookin stuff anywhere so no water leaks.
Re: Car overheating!?!?Help!!
well glad to see you got it working...i know when i was having my overheating problem it was anoying as hell....atleast yours was an easier fix...i ended up having to do a full rebuild..ok not having to but why the hell not
Re: Car overheating!?!?Help!!
Annoying doesn't begin to discribe it! But yeah a rebuild would be fun! other then the fact i had to just spend 2 grand on this semester.... and well the money i was savin up for headers.... just went down the drain fixin the heating problem... i swear i think i'm cursed!
