Car Died, tell me your thoughts on why.
Ok, so a few months back i finished rebuilding my engine.
I put a new cam and roller rockers and lt headers and new heads in.
One big note that may be important for later thoughts, i bent about 15 pushrods trying to get my rockers just right. Because they bent, they ripped my head gaskets apart, and into the engine.
I ignored that thinking they would be chopped up or dissolved or something, but they are metal.
Then i had took it to my dads friend to fix an exhaust leak and an oil leak. He did and i got it back. It was running ok, so i took it on the highway. I hit it.
BAM like that my oil pressure dropped and my car died out.
I pulled over, took a second and started it again. The car wouldn't stay alive by itself. So in order to get off the highway i drove in 2nd gear. I finally got off and to a gas station. Checked the oil first, black, and i saw bits of metal (or at least shiny things) in it
. I got it towed back to my dads friends house and it has been sitting there for a few weeks now.
I am guessing it is my oil pump and oil filter that are clogged and shot. What do you guys think?

Re: Car Died, tell me your thoughts on why.
I will be first one to tell you the bad news. Your block is shot and not salvageble anymore, including your crank, it will be much cheaper to get another used block for rebuild.. Just what happened to my first engine- lack of experience and trying to rush.
Re: Car Died, tell me your thoughts on why.
Just to name one of several things that need to be taken into account. Did the person doing the performance upgrades put any consideration into the lift of the cam and the coil bind height of the springs? Don't really see how anyone can bend pushrods just by mis-adjusting the rockers since the lifters have room for movement either tight or loose.
But then I can't understand why anyone would run an engine knowing there was bits of anything including gaskets in there?????????

Re: Car Died, tell me your thoughts on why.
Yeah your right, i should never have run it. But now i'm in the position to do something. And my car is sitting at this guys house. What should i tell him to try or check?
Re: Car Died, tell me your thoughts on why.
I will not work on this car anymore. I am done with it. I am trying to sell it now for 4,000 dollars. The only thing i would do in the mean time is to try and save up enough to pay this guy to replace the oil pump and filter and clean out the oil.
So, if any of you want a car, here it is.
