car cranks but wont start

well - nother problem-
car ran fine after cam install - turned out alternator went bad and car died- so i got new alternator and charged the battery but she wont start now.

when i turn key fuel pump is turning on - but when i try and start her she'll crank and u'll hear the car try and start twice then crank- then try and start- and just keep doing the same - but wont actually start

checked and everything is hooked up, and only thing i had changed since it last ran was the alternator.

1) check fuel pressure
2) check fuel pressure regulator
3) Injectors??? Might as well check them too, but i doubt it's that
4) good luck

Did you have to take anything else off to get the alternator off? Maybe something else could have been damaged in the process. Who knows.

Re: car cranks but wont start

well - im at work right now and wont get a chance to check things out till tommorow-

but i have good fuel pressure , checked that before i left-

which leaves either spark or battery, this may seem dumb but would it be possible for the battery to not be good enough to turn it over? i mean it cranks and tries but wont fire... any chance the battery is just bad on some level?

cause car started fine before- i changed out alternator after battery had died and i kept jumping it. in changing alternator only thing touched were the bolts on it and the plug- and theres really nothing near it i could have damaged that would be causing this problem. and the alternator itself just charges battery so car should still start off battery alone.

The battery is not the problem. You are correct, if the car is turning over than the battery is doing its job. You say your getting fuel, the engine obviously has compression, it's turning over but not starting, I'd say your getting no spark to the plugs. Im not too familiar with the opti-spark yet, but Im assuming if its bad then it's not delivering spark. So, my guess is going to be opti-spark.

Check opti spark and water pump. It's the first place to start.
