Canton oil pan and pan rails?

Recently received my canton oil pan and was wondering if it is necessary to use the stock oil pan rails with it. I have the ARP oil pan bolts but they are too short with the gasket and rails.
Any canton pan users out there use the oil pan rails?

I would get other bolts and use them. It keeps the holes from becoming sunk into the gasket and a more even torque.

My builder used the stock oil pan rails. I think he also used stock hardware, but i could be wrong.

well I kept the stock bolts and the reason for a more even torque does make sense. I guess it could hurt to reuse the bolts and rails.

My Canton pan has a minor leak just forward of the dipstick bulge. An internet search confirmed my problem (I'm using the stock pan rails).

The "fix" is to either drop the pan, clean it up and use some sealant.. or ditch the pan rails and crank down the bolts. I'm using a Fel-Pro "rubber" gasket which also has its detractors.

I may do a combo and drop the pan, replace the gasket with a Mr. Gasket version (which worked great on my last combo), add a touch of sealant and ditch the pan rails. It's not the most intelligent solution but it's a bitch to do so I might as well cover all bases.
