Cant get the tranny loose to drop it!!
Im confused, and trying to do this on my own, I have the the trany. mount and support off, and a jack under holding the tranny in place. I took the 6 bolts off that connect right where the fork is. It seems to be loose because depending on what angle I have it at, you can see theres a small crack between the two. Do I need to pry the tranny towards the rear to seperate it? Whats the trick here?

Since you mentioned "fork" can we assume its an M6?
Did you take all 8 bolts out? Did you pull the fork off the T/O bearing?

You have to take the shift fork out. It's two 13mm bolts, or the tranny will not come out. It helps if you pull it back as far as it will go and jrop the bellhousing down alittle bit so that you have more working room.

You don't have to remove the fork from the tranny, all you need to do is give it a yank so is pulls out abount an inch or so, loose from the ball on the front of the trans. You do have to remove the slave cylinder and the support cup though.
I dont know how im suppose to get to that very top bolt on the tranny. I can get a socket on it with an extension, but then theres no room to turn the wrench at all...I have the transmission dropped down as much as it will go to try to give me the room but still no luck.

You don't have to remove the fork...but you need to pull it straight down to release it from the pressure plate.
If you have the tranny moved at all, then you will have to put it back in place to be able to pull the clutch fork down.
This is a very common error.

Yes I already pulled the clutch fork all the way down, I just cant get to that very top bolt on the transmission itself. I can get a socket on it with an extension but then theres no room to turn the wrench.

The top bolt on both sides require different methods to reach. The Driver side bolt I just use a swivel joint, 3" extension, and a short socket. On the passenger side I use about a 5" extension. You have to do like 1/8th turns until the bolt becomes loose. If you would have done these first, then there would be no pressure on them from the tranny hanging off the motor. Then you would just be able to loosen them with your fingers. But hey, it took me about 7 times of dropping my tranny to finally get it right. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Later,

I think I forgot to take two bolts out. The chiltons manual only shows 6 and thats all I saw but I guess I need to look harder. Thanks for the quick reply and pic!
I've never done any drivetrain work before and nobody is here to help either..
