can't figure out the problem

My car would run rough when it got hot so I replaced the ignition module, and it was fixed, however my other problem was not, sometimes when I driving, when I touch the gas pedal at all the rpms will drop at the second I touch it. it will go back to normal after like a minute or two, I noticed today when I kept tapping the gas to try and make it go back to normal, when the rpms finally started to go up instead of going down, it sounded flooded and then cleared

keep in mind, this problem doesn't happen all the time, and when it goes back to normal it runs great

Re: can't figure out the problem

Is this only happening when the engine is up to operating temperature? Or does it do it at all engine temps? Could be a fuel delivery problem, its hard to say with the information you posted. I would put a fuel pressure test gauge on the car and drive the vehicle. If the fuel PSI goes down under load i wouls suspect the pump or fuel pump relay...the relay generally show itself failing when the engine is warm, so if you only notice a loss of PSI when the vehile is hot, look at the relay first, make sure the pump is getting 12 volts.

Good luck man,

Erik

Re: can't figure out the problem

the fuel pressure is at about 35psi and this problem happens intermediately, I think it usually happens when the car is hot

Have you cleaned the MAF lately? Did you soak the filter in oil? Did you pull the screen out of the MAF?

Inquiring minds want to know

Re: can't figure out the problem

Unplug your 02 sensors for awhile let the car run in open loop
see if that does trick

Re: can't figure out the problem

Any SES light on during or after these incidents? Could be lots of things right now...damaged/mixed up sensors, bad spark, not enough fuel, too much fuel. I had same type of issue but it was a clogged fuel filter. Too many possiblities right now to give any advice though.
