can you relocate LT1 MAF in front of TB?

Well, after two hours of sleep this morning I'm home as a new F-body owner. Flew into Washington, DC last night at 9:00pm and drove straight home to NC arriving at 5:00am. Picked up a '94 A4 hardtop Formula that I plan to transform this winter before I even put plates on it; Weld wheels all around with Hoosier drag radials, LTs, race mufflers, Yank SS3600, 4.56 gear, BMR suspension components, considerable efforts to lighten (AC/heater, EGR, smog delete, etc.), Ed Wright tuning, blah, blah, blah ... Goal is to have a street legal, bolt-on car that can run IHRA Pure Stock in B/PS (race weight of 3194 with my 6'2" 230 butt) and run under their 12.45 index (8.10 in the 1/8).

First (of many) questions is can I relocate the MAF in front of the TB? I had a bolt-on Impala SS and I got an OEM boot from Dal (from a LT4 C4 IIRC) that positioned the MAF directly in front of the TB (have to extend the wires I know). I didn't run an air cleaner which gave you a direct shot of air with no "bends" to go around. Looking at this car this morning (in the sunlight for the first time) I'm not sure there is room on the front of the engine to do this. Has anyone else repositioned their MAF? Pics would help also if you had.

Appreciate the help and can't wait until next spring!!

i know that there was a guy on here not too long ago that had a SS hood and used the LS1 intake that went straight off the TB, so yes, it can be done.

Actually, the elbow makes a 90 degree bend in front of the throttle body positioning the MAF to the right (as you look at the engine) of the intake manifold, continuing on then into the air cleaner. I'm sure that when the air has to "go around it's elbow to get to it's shoulder" it kills horsepower. The LT4 boot puts the MAF directly in front of the throttle body making it a straight shot.

The stock WS6 package positions the MAF sensor about 5" in front of the throttle body. You can use the $6 Fernco sewer pipe coupling for a nice neat, smooth transition. I don't have an MAF, but yuo can see where it fits in the WS6 seutup:

That's what I was looking for! Thanks Injuneer. By the way, I have pictures of your car bookmarked on my computer as the direction I want to head with mine. On that fitting; will the front accept a 3.5" MAF and if so, do you know off hand what size both ends are? Thanks!!

The Fernco sewer pipe connecter is part #1056-33, which indicates its for coupling 3" plastic pipe. The actual inside diameter of the coupling is about 3.38" (85mm). Its large enough that after heating it up a bit in boiling water, it will slide right over the oval throttle body flange.
