What's an LT-4 worth?

I know somebody that's got an LT-4 sitting in his garage. I asked him what he wanted for it and he said "What's it worth to you?" It's out of a '96 Vette and has 75,000 miles on it. Everything is there except the intake. I'm kicking around the idea of building motor for my car next summer. If I do I'm going to send the heads to Lloyd Elliot and use the GMPP hotcam. Would I be better off just starting with an LT-1 or with this. What's this motor worth vs. what I would spend on an LT-1 core.

Thanks alot

well, the heads are slightly better and it is a 4 bolt main block so i guess i would try to build that up over the lt1, although i'm not really sure what its worth.... also they don't make the lt4 intake anymore so that may be a bit pricy these days.

I saw a low mile one on Ebay going for around $3000.00 a little while back.

Probably get a mint for it on ebay but try to sell it to folks who have a clue and it aint going to be worth that much.
IMO start with your LT1.

Id do the lt1. Ive heard that the 4 bolt splayed mains are stronger than the 4 bolt mains in lt4's anyway. Also, I would imagine if you end up spending that much money (3000) for the lt4, youll be in better shape anyway with the lt1 money to money.

I read on here or on LS2 that either Holley or Edelbrock is now making their own version of the LT4 intake. So even if you can't find a stock one there is an alternative.

Also, isn't the GMPP HotCam already in this engine?
