Can a stock LT1 M6 spin or chirp 2nd gear?
Can a stock LT1 M6 spin or chirp 2nd gear?
Asking this question for a friend who is going to look at an M6 Formula...
How should an M6 that is nearly stock (or catback and CAI) behave on the 1st-2nd shift under WOT? A little spin, just a chirp, or nothing at all?
It has 3.42s also...

It depends on your tires. But with good tires, shifting at a high RPM (peak hp/torque) you should be able to spin the tires pretty good, at the VERY least get a chirp.

Even with the 2.73 gears in my latest edition to the family(93 Z28 with the M28) I can spin second pretty good with decent tires when I grab second quickly. The car now has a CAI and a Hooker muffler but spun the tires even before the mods.

With my 275/40/17's 555r's
I had 300+ at the wheels and I chirped 2nd and thats all. I slam 2nd pretty damn hard to shifting at like 6100... I even drove a stock 94 TA GT that didn't chirp when flooring it and didn't chirp 2nd. He didn't have DR's, but he said he had awesome dry pavement tires.

Bone stock w/ 60k, I could smoke 1st, smoke 2nd, and kick sideways a little bit when I hit 3rd. Had stock size GSCs on and stock 3.42s.
This car ran 13.82@103 (2.0 60') with only Hooker shorties, 4.10s, DIY CAI, and DRs on heavy chrome 17x11s. These times were at 3100' elevation and are uncorrected.

Heck, even with my A4 i can spin the tires in 1st all the way to 60 until it hits 2nd gear. Then it kinda gets some traction and takes off like a bat out of hell. (i seriously don't think my car is stock, does a stock LT1 go from 0-60 in 3.5 seconds...? timed it and was shocked.)

Burnouts are cool and all. But after so many, it gets expensive. All you need to know is that You should kill any Mustang on the road. Nuff said.
Whats the big deal with people having an LT4 knock module? Someone please explain this? Mods lists are cool and all but does a Lt4 KM really affect much?

Re: Can a stock LT1 M6 spin or chirp 2nd gear?
With stock sized potenzas I would spin like hell into second and would slide out pretty good into third. With my 295 supercars it really depends on the pavement. sometimes I get a nice chirp into second or nothing at all. It just hooks up and goes. Which is what I really want since the more your tires spin the slower you go. I'm sure if I had stock suspension I would be all over the road no matter which tire I had.
The LT-4 km is designed for roller rockers which make some noise and can be picked up as false knock. Basically in a nutshell the LT-4 km is less sensitive then the LT-1 km. Therefore it is used when you get headers, cam, and other things like that. That way you don't get false knock from the added vibration and noise.
