Ok... so we are looking at a

Cold air intake
Decent clutch
Headers
Catback
Roller rockers
TB w/ bypass

mmhmm the extra weight of the vert isnt helping but if you can launch or at least get a stockish auto LS1 from a roll you should pull on him a little. I just dont know the exact weight of LT1 vettes.

What your car could benefit from is a electric waterpump, suspension mods to try and keep the IRS from freaking out, sticker tires, and start looking at a cam.

Even bolt on 6 speed LS1's pull stupid times.

I got a friend with a 02 Camaro, 6 speed. It has a SLP lid, tb by pass, LT headers with out cats to a Borla with open plate, FAST TB, spec 3 clutch, BMR tq arm and rear LCA's. He did 12.51 at 114mph. I get beat from a roll (my car isnt 100%) but I still beat him from a stop with my car bogging.

Again i have a whole lot more done.

I think you could hang with an LS1 even without the gears. The 4.10's make it an easy win for you

Re: Can I compete with an Ls1 now....

woops sorry, i thought I saw vette, my bad

Ok so you should be in the 3900 pound with driver weight. My car with some lightening with out me is 3450 and 3705 with me.... mmmmhmm.

I think you could hang certainly, its a question of whether you can pull, from a stop is where you need to race.

Oh and with the 4.10 gears that can hurt you because blowing the tires off doesnt help anything.

When its warm the tires really hook well with the 4.10's.
It also seems to launch really hard without a whole lot of spinning.

About 90% of the time in a race, that the race is won in the 1st 60 feet. Again I am not a fan of huge gearing, often the potential gain from the increased ratio is negated from the possibility of blowing the launch or 1st gear is run through so quickly. On the otherside of it, a car will all the power in the world, cannot win a race if they cant get the power to the rear and not spin.

Provided the LS1 is stock you should be okay. Most LT1 6spds are right around 13.9-14.1 and stock LS1 are 13.2-13.5 depending on driver skill with around 2.0 60' time.

The gear will work as long as the tires hook. I think ya will need more mods to run with some of the bolt on LS1 I have seen around here.

Ive got LCA's and a pan hard rod on the way. That will help with traction.
One day I will do an LE1 package but thats off in the future.
I might consider the electric water pump.

Get to a track and come back with times. That's the only real way to know who you can hang with.

I think you'll be hard pressed to beat your typical mild bolt-on LS1 (mine once I get tires, for instance), but I'll bet you can take most stockers.

But be aware, of putting a sticker tire on a 6speed/10bolt car, if you get the right amount of hook (the 1.7 60 range) your rear end will be in danger. My auto/10 bolt at the time was fine but the posi was failing. I would be worried about an 6 speed beating up on the rear with a dead hook.

You have a good chance of spanking a stock ls1.
