can a bad fuel pump cause blue smoking?
in my 93 Z, i know i have a bad fuel pump cause you can hear it whining..pretty loud! the car puffs out blue smoke upon start up and when you rev it a little bit blue smoke shotts out both tailpipes. Could a bad fuel problem cause the blue smoking? as i stated, i know FOR A FACT that the fuel pump is bad and possibly the fuel filter. the guy i bought it from said the only performance mods done to the car was bigger injectors. Could bigger injectors cause blue smoking? What am i looking at here guys. The car doesn't miss though ANY of the rpm range, doesn't overheat... just smokes pretty bad and when the SES light pops on...the car will usually die...but i figure this is due to the fuel pump... any info will help... thanks!

yeah, the weird thing is that the car never seems to lose any oil and as both of you stated...blue smoke is an indication of burning oil. the oil doesn't look milky, and the coolant is fine too so i figure that the "Blown Head Gasket" theory is out of the question. any other ideas?

worn out valve stem seals.
i had a problem with another car that it sould smoke a little on start up, but not during driving. if i went thru the whataburger drive thru (idle for 30 mins) then the thing would be smoking like snopp doggs house.
maybe, but not so bad as mine

Yeah, blue = oil for sure.
Valve seals or rings possibly.. you haven't noticed any power loss since this started happening have you?
This is definately an internal problem.. which means it will take a lot of time to fix. How about upgrading some internals when you're in there (new valvetrain)? Now's as good an opportunity as any
Have a leakdown test and compression test done just to get a better picture of exactly what's going on. Also, check the plugs and see which ones, if any, are fouled - those will indicate your problem cylinder(s). And don't keep driving it what with it burning oil... the carbon/gunk deposits are not good for the egr fittings if you still have them and surely won't help your o2 sensors.
Hope this helps,

the car is as powerful as it was when it rolled off the factory floor, so hopefully its not as bad as some may think. i'll dig in and get those seals replaced and mabye a new set of rings while i'm at it. hopefully it'll be as good as gold again. thanks!
