Camshaft Questions

Hey guys. I'm thinking of getting a camshaft for my LT1. I have a few questions. The main thing I'm looking for is low end HP and Torque. Heres the questions, some may sound dumb, but I'm used to having a v6

*Will I have to take the engine out?
*Will I have to mod anything else (I'll replace lifters, but that was all I was thinking)
*For the application listed above, which camshaft would be best?
*Where can I get this camshaft?
*what kind of HP/Tq increase will I see in a 94-95 LT1?

Thanks and God Bless

A cam change can be done without removing the motor. You will definitely need new valve springs to go with your cam. As long as everthing's apart, it's a good time to also add roller rockers, if you can afford the extra $$$. It is not usually necessary to replace the stock lifter, unless going to a really wild cam or if they are damaged/worn.

I am very fond of the CC "Xtreme Energy" series of cams. As far as off the shelf grinds, the CC 502 would be a good choice. HP gains will be in the 30rwhp range, more if you have a good exhaust system. I understand that CM Motorsports has good prices on Comp Cams "packages".

It's pn 07-502-8. Anyone who deals with Comp can get it for you.
