Cam? what else?

I am looking at cams soon, I found Comp Cams XFI LT1 Camshaft, 218 / 224, .570 / .565 113 LSA - says its got a strong midrange, good low end, and works good with computer tune, headers, and what not....

my question is what kind of other stuff do I need? springs/retainers/locks/pushrods?

what kind do you guys suggest with this particular cam, and do you suggest getting heads first?

after reading about springs I think ill go with PAC 1218s or 1518s.....

are retainers, locks, and pushrods required during this process?

also ive asked before but are the proform 1.6RR any good?

Check ou this thread I started inquiring about that cam
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=522974

I decided the idle was still a little radical for my wife to handle so I went with a LPE211/219, but I'd still like to get this cam for something else.

For the PAC1218 or 1518s, they need the same locks/retainers/seats as the comps
795-16 retainers
611-16 locks
4705-16 seats

Oh yeah, you'll also need to get a pushrod length checker and measure for proper pr length, if you don't know how to do that, its not that hard, just takes a little time, do a search and you'll find the process..do it with the car off, cranking it by hand. Don't take anyones advice on what length to get..too many variables..if someone is telling you a length, its because their own setup may not be correct and not have the proper geometry. Normally will be in the 7.1 to 7.25 range.
