Cam selection

Im finally going to get around to pickin a cam for my car...i saw the LT4 hotcam kit on summit racing and thought it wasnt that bad of an idea...just wondering if there is a better choice in cams and what i could get that would be better than whats in the kit for about the same price...its mainly a street driven car with the occasional trip to the track. Any help would be appreciated

The hotcam would be a good cam for you in my opinion. When going anything about a cc306 cam, you really need to have ported heads and tuning done. Even with the hotcam you can get a tune, but can use stock heads and will make a good difference.

i personally like the comp cams pro mag rockers.. and there pushrods and guideplates, but if you wanted to whole thing in kit form,i am pretty sure it would definately do the job... for a daily driver that hotcam is an awesome cam. my buddy has it in his camaro. it sounds good and makes good power too

That "kit" has rockers limited to .550 lift and springs that are fine for the LT4 hollow valves but not good enough with the LT1's heavier valves. Meaning you should get different spring immediately and the rockers wont work when you step up to a better setup. In the end, not such a bargain. Look to the future with every purchase, a little overkill now is almost always much cheaper in the longrun.
