You will need to swap out the valve springs because they can barely handle the lift of the stock cam/rockers.

I'd recommend getting headers first or putting them on when you do the cam swap. They are considered a supporting mod for cams.

Is your car an automatic or manual? You may need a stall/gears as well depending on what cam you're looking at.

As far as cam's go, what's your budget? There are plenty of mild cams with great drivability. Hotcam, cc503, etc.

Re: Cam Question

It's a 6speed manual I do plan on putting 3.90s in the rear that's plenty for down here and the cams I've seen on ws6 store are about 270 so that's cheap for me top of the budget Is 500 right now just kinda wanted the cam before the headers because I do all this my self but I think ill get the cam and then the headers and install at the same time and I do know about the springs also those will be swapped at the same time Thanks for the quick response also

$500 isn't going to cover a cam swap IMO. Unless you get a good deal used.

At a high level you'll need:
- Cam
- Valve Springs
- Rockers
- Gasket Set (Intake, Valve Covers, Water Pump)
- Opti o-ring
- Oil change supplies

I'd highly recommend a mail order tune after your done, as well as replacing the timing chain while you're in there if you have higher mileage.

If you're strict on the budget, I'd look at the hotcam. It's perhaps the cheapest way to go unless you go used. Great sound, very drivable, and a noticable increase throughout the powerband. Others will argue because for a little more money you can get more power with other cam choices.

Re: Cam Question

You got some input on this topic about a year ago. Back then, you r were talking about a "stall converter"..... have you done a trans swap since then?
