Don't forget to give yourself enough extra clearance as well. Don't get LT4 springs for a cc305 cam if they're just barely enough for it, for example. (I didn't even check the numbers, so don't critique it)

i believe you're right, the LT4 springs are barely good enough for the LT4 hotcam (which is smaller than the cc305). some would even argue to ditch the lt4 springs all together, even for the hotcam.

They sell the stock LT4 springs with the hotcam, but the "hotcam" is not the stock LT4 cam. IMO, those springs are BARELY enough for that cam, even though the max lift is within specs. Get some beehives

yes

I think beehives should just about be the only spirngs they sell for hydraulic roller cams. They work for damn near every application. everything from a hotcam to something like mine well over .600 lift (with 1.6RRs)

so what would some decent behive springs be (that could handle up to .600 lift)?

PAC has two: 1218 and 1518. Check the sponsor section.

^ Cause their popular with most off the shelf cams smaller than a GM847/CC306. They handle fast profiled lobes well.

Hahah honestly though you could probably school me on cams & valvetrain any day.

I guess my point is that this is not a new idea. It was popular a few decades ago and then went out of "style". Is it a fad again or will it last? Either way, the tapered springs do work. And the idea of keeping the moving mass low is attractive. But the hundreds of millions of sets of "regular" springs out there sem to work well too.

I would concentrate on the right seat and open pressures for the combination along with the correct installed height. If there is a tapered spring that meets the bill, it's a reasonable choice.
