I have a LPE top end kit and want more power and i am thinking about changeing my cam. The cam in the car now is 211/219 dur. and 533/560 lift with 1.6rr. I was looking at the GM 847 cam. Does anybody recommend a cam that they would use or this cam i also run N2O andhave stock bottom end .
Im using the crane version of that cam. Its the 234/242 with 575/595 on a 112 correct???
Anyway, the thing hauls some serious a$$. Likes to be revved to 6600ish, im on stock bottom end too, no problems.
You will lose some decent low end, i just over geared my car to make up for it (433s).
No track numbers yet, it had been a project getting it tuned in.

hell i dont think the stock pcm would keep up with
thatsa big cam
Sorry i havent gotten back to you, been away from the boards for a few days.
Anyways, i have used that cam in both my auto 383 Impala SS, and also in my m6 350 Z28.
The 383 idle is pretty tame, and has no cam surge what so ever. With mildly ported LT4 heads (265ish), shift points are 6700-6800. (they are set by speed not rpm so im not sure exact rpm). Anyways, the car ran 12.8, 110 trap speeds with full wieght and partial throttle first part of track on street tires. It is a low 12 sec car with some slicks. Not too shabby for a 4500+lb beast
My guess would be 430ish RWHP through the auto tranny.
In the Z, the cam is more noticable for sure. It has a nice healthy lope to it, and hints of cam surge under 1700 or so. Nothing major. As of now i dont have any track times with it, but i know another member here (GREASE) has this cam and rolled some serious HP, 415ish i think, on the stock 350 and some GTP II heads. He could give you an accurate peak of the powerband.
