Need advice on 3200 non-lock up convertor

I have a chance to buy a non lockup torque convertor cheap. Please explain to be the negative and positive sides of a non lock up.

Should I just save and buy a lockup or go with the non lock up?

Thanks,

Joe

PS> Im not sure of the brand name.

Lock up is basically the TC engaging into a 1:1 ratio. You will feel the torque converter "slipping" until it locks up and the RPM's will drop.

With a non-lock up converter, your RPM's will remain higher than they normally would with a converter that "locks up".

If you don't mind the gas mileage and driving at a higher RPM, then I would go with it. But if this is your daily driver....I wouldn't recommend it.

That's it in short....might want to do a google search or maybe howstuffworks.com to see if they have some more in depth torque converter information.
