Cam install & TDC Question

First off...let me apologize for redundancy....I just want to be absolutely clear...

When I go to put my new cam in, I can assume correct alignment & #1 TDC when I rotate the cam & crank so that both the cam sprocket and crank sprocket holes line up (i.e. crank hole is at 12 o'clock and the cam hole is at 6 o'clock) correct?

For proper timing, assuming the cam is manufactured correctly, the only thing you need to worry about is lining up the dots on crank sprocket and cam sprocket. Crank sprocket dot at 12 o'clock and cam sprocket dot at 6 o'clock. As shown here....lower right diagram.

More explanation is here....

Nope, that would be #6 TDC, but that is where you want it.

so then both timing gear dots @ 12 o'clock would be #1 tdc? The reason I ask is because i plan on changing out the springs & adjusting the rockers cylinder by cylinder, in the firing sequence, to avoid confusion.

Yes, both dots will be 12 o'clock for 1 to be TDC. For rocker adjustment, I didn't even look at the timing set....I just watched the lifter movement.

Yes. If you click on the cam timing animation link from my site posted above, you will see the relationship for all cylinders.
