Cam install gone wrong

So I went to see the car tonight in the shop and the mechanic said that compcams should of sent me guide plates. The 1.6rr are slipping off the pushrods and when adjusted them he said that they slipped right off by hand. So does anyone know the part # for the guide plates I need.

There are no aftermarket guideplates that keep the proper LT1 valvetrain geometry... they all angle the rockers some.

Use the GM ones mentioned or adjustable guideplates. SBC plates will not correctly align the LT1 pushrods.

Re: Cam install gone wrong

The only ones that will work besides the GM ones are adjustable ones such as ISKY's AGP's ...

Re: Cam install gone wrong

Anyone else have a problem with the GM guide plates rubbing the pushrod. On 2 motors i've worked on the pushrods have lightly contacted or were within a hair of rubbing the bottom of the guide plate. I took them out and ground the bottom of the opening down to make sure i had plenty of clearance. Anyone else have this happen?

Ya it is a common problem. Grinding them is a common fix also.

Grind the guideplates. I paid like $26 for new ones from thunder racing if I recall. Worked fine.
